The Character Creator is really nice for me, even though some things don't get registered. You're kind of SOL with all the nice automatic upkeeping if you want to home rule stuff though.

I may try to make it out to Kublacon this year, maybe just for a day. Kublacon seems real kid friendly, so I'll probably be dragging my daughter along when she gets a little older.

I'm glad you had a fun time at your unexpected visit to Babycon 09.

Do you think you'll be able to head to Kublacon? I'm planning on running a few games of Maid RPG there.

Just do what I did, explain the comedy side of it and get everyone rolling up their silly characters so they can see the good stupid fun of it.

Generating the setting and the characters, and playing a good deal of it takes about 2-3 hours.

So far everyone who's tried this has had nothing but a good time with the game.
Everyone who hasn't tell me stories of how a rogue neon genesis evangellion DVD killed their dog.

They just released the book at Gencon. It's a huge full color book at a massive price to go along with it- 60 bucks. Granted, it has a full campaign setting, monsters and tons of character options so it's still cheaper than buying two of the 4e books at retail. I seriously doubt they'll release a real Special Edition that adds anything. Word is we got the 2nd edition of the rules, which were released and then the original english translation was scrapped and the new version was put into translator/editing hell. But it looks fantastic of what I've read from it.

TMNT was my first RPG that I played with some friends back in 5th grade. Mr. Wujcik was, in a sense, my "Gary Gygax"- the writer of the game that got me into the hobby. Ironically, I never touched D&D until 4e and my first game with the system was June 7th.

He'll certainly be missed.

I remember there was an RPG-oriented BBS in my area, and there was a file for a new cross-breed race called "Dwelves."

Half-elves have something of a precedent in LotR and such, but I think other half-breeds would've been the kind of thing Gygax would've written long diatribes against in Dragon magazine.

What I would like to see is rules for making characters that were adopted by another race's culture, a la Carrot from Discworld, a tall human with red-orange hair who was raised by dwarfs.

half halfling = Quarterlings? I think there was a half-kender in one novel I read, and kenders are pretty much halflings.

Also, isn't the minotaur in greek mythology the offspring of human and a bull? There's an idea, half sheep, half human woolietaur! Good low level encounter I think.
